Learning About Animals runs regular talks for new mums and mums-to-be about dogs
and babies. There is a clear need for this information to be accessible to more people
and as such this pack is available or dog trainers, behaviourists, vet nurses and
similar professionals who might like to run the talks themselves.
The pack includes:
- a run-through of the presentation by phone/Skype (one-to-one). [This costs £5,
and then you can decide if you want to buy the pack or not, if you do want to go
ahead you then pay the remaining £20]. - the PowerPoint presentation slides, and
accompanying notes - Notes explaining the design of the session (it’s a big topic
to get into a short session with parents!) and content that could be included in
a longer session. - Notes outlining my experiences with presenting and marketing the
talks to different audiences. Some things I have learnt the hard way so wrote them
down so you don’t have to learn the hard way too! - List of resources you can display
at a talk and tips on how to arrange talks - List of FAQs and responses
You are free to use the presentation, brand it and modify/personalise it as you want
to (with citing LAA where appropriate - explained in the pack).
The pack is only available to those who promote reward based training and understand
why it is not appropriate to talk about ‘dominance’ in human-dog relationships. As
such there is a short questionnaire to be completed before the pack can be purchased.

Suzanne is an animal welfare professional with fifteen years experience of working
with animals and people in a wide range of contexts from managing dog projects in
developing countries, to working with owners to solve their horse behaviour problems,
to helping rescue centres with their education work. She is a mum and dog owner -
passionate about having animals as part of the family in a responsible way that
is beneficial to pet and owner.
There will be an opportunity in 2015 to attend one of the talks I run for expecting
or new mums. However, some are run privately and not through this website so if you
would be interested in seeing it for yourself then let me know and I’ll let you know
when I am giving a private talk you might be able to attend also. If you attend a
talk you don’t need to have the Skype run-through mentioned below.
